The Petroleum and Natural Gas Engineering option is concerned with subsurface energy production and storage using the most environmentally conscious and effective methodologies.
Examples of the current research areas that our faculty are engaged in include enhanced hydrocarbon recovery, development of unconventional reservoirs, geomechanics of subsurface reservoirs, reservoir characterization, reservoir simulation, enhanced reservoir stimulation, unconventional drilling, well completion, fluid transmission lines, geo-storage of hydrogen and carbon dioxide, geothermal energy production, wastewater disposal, and environmental remediation of soil, groundwater, and other geologic media.
