The Rock and Fluid Properties Lab (30 Hosler) serves as an educational facility for PNGE undergraduate students taking the PNG 406 course (Rock and Fluid Properties Laboratory). It offers a variety of hands-on experiments, including:
• Porosity measurement using the Barnes and Helium porosimeter methods
• Absolute permeability assessment based on Darcy’s law by injecting liquids
• Gas permeability measurement and the Klinkenberg effect analysis
• Relative permeability measurement using PREL 300 apparatus
• Compressibility factor determination of gases
• Contact angle measurement using the Kruss apparatus
• Fluid saturation measurement of core samples using Soxhlet apparatus
• Interfacial tension measurement using the pendant drop method
